Sriram Primary school is a Government aided co-educational school of classes from grade 1 to 5. The School was founded by Sri Dharmarakshakar P.R.Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha (the former chairman of the Ramco Cements Ltd.,) on 01.08.1962. An integrated Trimester system and CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) system of Tamil Nadu Government is followed in the school. The Headmistress of the school is Mrs. S. Vijayalakshmi and the secretary of the school is the Unit Head of The Ramco Cements Ltd., Ramasamy Raja Nagar. Currently Mr. S. Ramalingam, President of the Cement Factory is the secretary.
The school is running under P.A.C. Ramasamy Raja Education Charity Trust. The school was started with 23 students and one teacher. At present, the school has 387 students and 9 Government approved teachers for classes I to V. The school has KG classes running under the support of The Ramco Cements Ltd., Ramasamy Raja Nagar, Thulukapatti since 2012. There are 4 KG teaching faculties and 1 non-teaching staff appointed under the Management category for 106 children.
Government Schemes:
Free Textbooks, notebooks and uniforms are given to all students from class I to V. Through free midday meal scheme, students are offered sufficient wholesome meals, to improve the nutritional value of children. The Special Adult Education Program is successfully running from the year 2021.
Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities:
In order to improve computer knowledge and to impart basic computer education, a well-designed computer lab with 10 computers was functioning from the year 2013 by The Ramco Cements Management. Since 1997, Hindi language is taught to interested students who appear for the Hindi Prachar Sabha Exams every year at free of cost. Yoga class is being conducted for all students, and they participate in interschool level yoga competitions and win prizes. Dance and l music classes are being conducted, interested students join the classes of their choice and benefit. In order to showcase the talents of students, club activities are conducted once during every month from class L.K.G to V.
Students participate in the interschool completions conducted by external agencies such as Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Sevashram (Thanjavur), Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Program and Idhayam wiseman club (Virudhunagar) win prizes. Students also win prizes in many competitions conducted by The Ramco Management like quiz, games, essay writing, singing, dance, poster making, Tamil elocution and Rangoli. Competitions are also conducted on important days by such as: World Environment Day on 5th June, The National Safety Week on 4th-10th March and World Ozone Day on 16th September.
As an integral part of learning system, every year the school celebrates school annual day, Navratri, Diwali, Vinayagar Chathurthi, Pongal.
Health Check-up:
Students are offered a free health check up every year through The Ramco Social Service:
Eye checkup – Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli
Dental checkup – Lakshmi Dental Hospital, Sattur
Full Body checkup – Velammal Hospital, Madurai.
Awards and Achievements:
The school was awarded as the best school in the science exhibition at CRC (Cluster Resource Centre) level.
5’s Award:
To perform the work efficiently and safely in school, 5’s system has been implemented successfully and was awarded with 5’s certificate on 17.11.2016 and the school has recertified the same on 06.12.2019. PAR Excellence award was received during National Conclave on 5’s, Coimbatore during 2018. The school was also awarded by the 5-s certification body of Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) jointly with Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE).
