Shri. P.A.C.R. Sethuramammal Primary School was founded in 1958. It initially functioned on a makeshift arrangement in the Gandhi Kalai Mandram as ‘P.A.C.R Ammani Ammal Primary School.’ In 1979, it was relocated to the present campus in Rajapalayam and given its current name. The school is government aided and aims to provide quality education and skill development in an enjoyable way. Its motto is, “One who is educated becomes knowledgeable.”
The headmistress of the school, Mrs. D. Aruna, manages the day-to-day activities of the school. The secretary of the school is Mr N. K. Shrikantan Raja. The headmistress, in consultation with the secretary, manages the school affairs.
The school follows the Samacheer Kalvi system of the Tamil Nadu School education department. Students are assessed continually through frequent internal assessments.
Features of holistic education implemented in the P.A.C.R Sethuramammal Primary School:
- Language learning: The school has facilities to improve English communication. Students are encouraged to learn Hindi and undergo training to write the yearly Hindi Prachar Sabha proficiency exams.
- Waste management: The school follows Solid waste management in our school. Students are taught segregation and encouraged to reduce waste generation. The Garbology subject is taught to students based on the syllabus designed by a team from Auroville. In addition, the school maintains a composting yard.
- Extra-curriculars: The teachers train and motivate the children to participate in extra-curricular activities like elocution contests, drawing, Sloka chanting and storytelling events.
-
Community engagement and presentation skills: The annual P.T.A. meeting is an opportunity for students to engage with and educate the community (parents and guests) through cultural performances and science exhibits. Such events encourage creativity and team spirit in children. Students present their exhibits to parents and guests. Students also celebrate the annual day, where they showcase their talent in cultural events and receive awards for their merit. Every year, the overall outstanding student of class V is awarded the “Best Outgoing Student Award” and given a gold medal and certificate in memory of Shriman P.A.C. Ramsamy Raja.
Growth of the P.A.C.R Sethuramammal Primary School:
The school has grown to cater to 841 students and 20 teachers. The school continues to grow and thrive under chairman Shri. P.R. Venketrama Raja and Headmistress, Smt. D Aruna.
