Project
The project of Giving “Waste” a Second Life in collaboration with Ok Upcycling Studio is designed for education and creation of Upcycled Art and Design. The goal is to sensitize the community about waste and create functional art and design from the generated ‘waste’.
Upcycling Workshops
- For schools in Auroville, Chennai and some other places;
- for teachers in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu;
- for Auroville community and its guests;
- for ‘Stand4Upcycling’ shop at Visitor’s Centre, Auroville;
- for Rajapalayam Upcycling studio; we are going to train people in Rajapalayam for the Upcycling studio in the Poly Technic college.
Upcycled Art and design for interiors (of a Bangalore flat)
Art & Design pieces from their old furniture, memorable objects, clothes and other materials. This project is close to completion. W are still working to make an Upcycling lampshade and furniture from various waste.
At the end of the year, in October and November, we will make Upcycled lighting objects.
Upcycled Art
Art work: The Wisdom of Truth, for Swami Paramarthananda was made from Audio tapes of his lectures of various Indian Vedas.
This project is completed.

Upcycled Products
Ok Upcycling Studio is building an awareness of discovering waste as a resource and brainstorming more concepts and ideas to make functional products from waste.
Currently, the focus is on broken and non-functional waste for making a light installation exhibition.
Another ongoing project is creating upcycled fashion goods from the waste Varanasi silk mixed fabric.
Art Exhibition
In lieu of the Corona Pandemic, art exhibitions with the waste generated by leftover materials from sanitary masks production will be conducted in Auroville in 2021; and ‘Journey of Sustainability’ exhibition was supposed to take place in France in 2022, it has been postponed to 2023.
