WasteLess
WasteLess develops & shares educational materials and programmes for schools on waste management, plastic pollution and sustainability. Through in-depth pilot testing, teachers and students help co-create innovative and powerful learning experiences designed specifically for young minds in India. The aim is to bridge the gap between the latest science and children in way that drives positives changes to attitude and behaviour.
Ramco CSR has supported developing educational programmes such as Garbology, Pick it Up and kNOw PLASTICS and scaling them to over 200,000 students.
Based on detailed social impact data and best practices from the field, this important aspect of education was integrated into Tamil Nadu textbooks reaching millions of students each year.
Children are powerful changemakers and through these programmes become empowered and motivated to spread knowledge to parents, friends and neighbours. They also start to separate and recycle waste at home, reduce the use of plastics and embrace sustainable behaviour like using a stainless steel water bottle, sharing unpackaged sweets for birthday treats and organising local litter clean ups.
