Ramco and its trusts are focused on providing education for the youth as the first step towards a sustainable future for all. This is in line with UNESCO’s charter of seven inter-related sustainable development goals to be achieved by 2030, when India’s contribution would be 50 or more.
Nearly 100,000 students have passed through the portals of the 20 educational institutions run by Ramco and its trusts since 1950 when our first school was established. Ramco Cements runs seven schools, whereas the 13 other institutions including schools, an engineering college, an ITI and a Polytechnic College and a Veda Pathasala are run by the PAC Ramasamy Raja Education Charity Trust, Sethuramammal Charities and Raja Charity Trust.
Salient features of our institutions
- Qualified and trained teachers.
- State-of-the-art facilities (urban amenities in rural areas).
- Empowering rural children with quality education and shaping their journey to become confident individuals and responsible citizens.
- Bridging the digital divide with best-in-class technology.
- Inculcating our culture and tradition.
- Science-based education and experiential learning.
- Harnessing the collective engagement with all the stake holders -management, teachers, parents, local communities, alumni and channelizing them to create continuous improvements.
The future roadmap
- The impact of COVID 19 has created a disruption in the education sector and we at Ramco are recalibrating our educational institutions for the New Normal.
- There will be a hybrid model that will come into existence and the role of teachers will correspond to that of mentors.
- We are enabling our teachers to handle technology.
- Online class is not just wrapping the same teaching in new packaging, but teachers will come up with new approaches.
- The lockdown has created different scenarios which will necessitate providing emotional support to teachers, students and parents. Ramco’s corporate support will back both the present and future initiatives.
