Ramco Group founder and visionary Shriman P.A.C. Ramasamy Raja founded this primary school in 1950. The primary school aims to impart high-quality holistic education to children. The school is driven by the motto: “Education and intelligence being the eyes of our vision.”

The headmistress of the school, Mrs. M. Sarada, manages the day-to-day activities of the school. The secretary of the school is Mrs. R. Sudarsanam. The headmistress, in consultation with the secretary, manages the school affairs.

The school follows the Samacheer Kalvi of the TN state syllabus. Students are provided free textbooks by the Government of Tamil Nadu. As of the academic year 2019-20, three new English medium sections were sanctioned by the TN state Government with aid.

Features of holistic education implemented in the TAKM Ramammal Primary School:

  • Language learning: The school has appointed English and Hindi language teachers. The students undergo spoken English training. Each year 45 students appear for the Hindi Prachar Sabha proficiency exams.

  • Waste management: The school follows solid waste management. The Garbology subject is taught to the students based on the guidance received from the ‘Wasteless’ team of Auroville.

  • Interactive multimedia education: The teachers use teaching aids, charts, images, and videos to instruct students. New methodologies are implemented periodically.

  • Extracurricular activities: The teachers train the children to participate in extracurricular activities like elocution contests, drawing and sports. Students participate in competitions at the intra-school, interschool, and district levels. In addition, they celebrate the ‘Balavani’ anniversary event depicting our culture and heritage every year.

  • Community engagement and presentation skills: The annual PTA meeting is an opportunity for students to engage with and educate the community (parents and guests) through theme-based science exhibitions. Students explain new concepts to both parents and guests. Students also celebrate the annual day, where they participate in cultural events and receive awards for their merit.

Growth of the TAKM Ramammal Primary School:

The school has grown over the last 62 years from 50 students and four teachers to its present strength of 1300 students and 28 teachers. RAMCO Chairman Shri. P.R. Venketrama Raja currently heads the school committee with Smt. M Sarada as the Headmistress.
